Which is the correct solution of the system of linear equations? 2x – 4y = 6 6x = 12y + 18 A (0, 2 −3 ) B (-1, 5) C There are an infinite number of solutions D There is no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe this is D) No solution, but just to clarify, what does answer A say exactly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you learning linear algebra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is (0,-3/2) i believe) and this is a review

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you set up with all the x and y on the left hand side. Set it up as a matrix and then split it up until a 2x2 matrix and a 2x1 vector with the variable x and y. Row reduce echelon form and then solve for x and y. If there is a free variable then there is an infinite number of solution and if there is a conflict of values then there is no solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sticking with D because A only works for one of them

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if given answer, dbl chk them by using them back in the equations to see what fits ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we multiply the top by 3, we get the same thing as the bottom; they are the same equations ...
