Solve x + 8 < 3 and x + 9 > -4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x< -5 and x>-13

Parth (parthkohli):

x < -5 and x > -13

Parth (parthkohli):

Inequalities are like equations, just remember...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the x's that will satisfy both inequalities are -13<x<-5

Parth (parthkohli):

You can take the like terms and the unlike ones on the either sides of the inequalities. But, make sure, when it is divided by any negative then inequalities change. Okay?

Solve 3n + 11 < 17 or -3n > 12. Which is the best description of the solution set?

Parth (parthkohli):

We can also say that x can be -6,-7,-8,-9,-10,-11 or -12

n< 2 or n<-4

Parth (parthkohli):

1) 3n < 6 = n < 2 2) -n > 4 = n < 4 If n is an integer, n = 3
