If someone's obviously here to cheat on a test, what should one do? (I mean, asker asks question after question multiple choice and only lloks for answers)
@myininaya
@inkyvoyd just don't give answers. Try to engage them in one question. Make them work on the question
@ash2326 , what if it happens to be that other users are just giving answers?
You may use report abuse feature mentioning all instances of alleged cheating.
And what if this test is something important, like a final or something?
Should the answerers be reported for just giving asnwers?
@inkyvoyd ask other users not to give answers directly and if they still give, do as @FoolForMath suggested
Then you helped someone to get A on test.
Everyone report that person please.
But how would you know if he is in the examination hall, that's invigilator's job not ours.
he/she*
She's using the site as an asset. It's our job to stop her from doing this.
But how would you know he/she is cheating?
Doesn't matter. SHe's open closed 7 questions
She told us!
She's abusing the system.
She's breaking the CoC
@inkyvoyd: If an answer-er is giving only the answer without explaining or even alluding, then use can report abuse on the him/her. But please note it depends on the context, if the questions are really elementary for example fill in the blanks on planer geometry or something axiomatic, then it's a good idea to discuss with the answer-er before hitting the abuse button.
She told that she's getting paid to solve the ged paper. She's using this site. UNFAIRNESS!
@FoolForMath , it's ECONOMICS
On math!
If you mods don' take a look at this user, then I promise you you will have a bad example in the future to look at.
She? lol ohh so you already have the culprit.
And, I've hit this abuse button, I don't want to hit it more.
I've too.
FoolForMath suspend her. You can suspend her right?
Please do.
@FFM. Go to math. CLosed closed questions. Scroll down.
I can see the abuse reports, I will look into it now. Thanks for helping.
The majority of us have reported her, now the mods cannot go on their own and not suspend her! Please, this is our request.
And a valiant request it is
I promote hhelping the person step by step but if they are relly sayin that they are out of time or need the answer we should trust their intragty and give them the answer REMBEMNER if they just ask for answers they are hurting them selves
if they are out of time and "NEED" an answer; that is not our problem is it? Anyone can say they are out of time, that it is a dire need, that we are their only hope for salvation, and other tripe. We can verify thier answers or help them to work thru an issue; but in the end, if you just give an answer no matter how informed you present it, they tend to only see the final line ... By engageing the askers, we allow them to be a part of the solutions and not a bystander to it. imo
@amistre64 and several others are right. Reporting abuse is the thing to do in this situation. Both the asker and those who just give answers are at fault: we want the community to make the asker understand that it is not ok to just ask for answers. As we look into these situations, we'll delete offending questions, which removes any gained points from medals or other actions. So it is not beneficial to anyone to provide answers in that way. Additionally, we're considering whether to start applying point subtractions to people who are doing things like this. We don't want the OpenStudy rewards system to help those who don't give genuine interactive help.
I'm actually more concerned that the asker was claiming to get paid for getting someone's GED. This is why I was so insistent on the asker getting banned permanently.
*was actually
It seems like a bit of a one-off. I think if we focus on discouraging just-answers and such, those people will inevitably filter to other sites to get their problems attended to.
(Which is, of course, the best we can hope for.)
Closed, because all the questions have mostly been answered
