right down a few coordinates with opposite signs. (-x, y), (x, -y). I think you will see what they are getting at.

Any point is in the form (x,y) If x is positive then y is negative (since "The coordinates of an ordered pair have opposite signs"). This would mean that the point is in the fourth quadrant. OR If x is negative, then y is positive. So this point would be in the second quadrant.
