OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

To determine the child/adult ratio, divide the # of children by the # of adults and compare the resultant fractions (or decimals)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RESULTANT ? WHAT IS THAT ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the ratio of children to adults simply do child : adult for each group and simplify so sunnyside is 49:7 --> 7:1 westside is 80:10 --> 8:1 little ones is 56:14 -- 4:1 then just determine the biggest one :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh ok and how do i write *:1 in decimals ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

* 8:1

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

Resultant fraction means the results you get for each fraction 7:1 is the same thing as 7/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8:1 in a decimal is 8 a ratio in a decimal is just x/y if the ratio is x:y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the answer 8 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says its wrong

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

You want the smallest ratio of kids per adult.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh whoops :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just use the work above and find the smallest instead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh so its 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya
