15-3n=n-1

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Isolate the variable.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

move all the constants to one side, and all the variables to the other.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Combine like terms, and divide.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

a-bn=n=c a-c=n+bn a-c=(1+b)n n=(a-c)/(1+b)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did it. I subtracted -1n from -3n and from 1n. then I got 15-4n=-1. Then I added 4n to -4n and to -1. Then I got 15=3n, and then I divided 3n by 3 and 15 by 3, and then I got n=5 but that isn't right.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Should be, subtracted n, not -n

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Or, added -n.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the very beginning part?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm very bad at math.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

subtract both sides by only n

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

if you subtract by -n, it actually means you are adding by n. Here's why -(-n)=-1*(-1*n)=1n=n
