Algebra Questions! Please Help!? 1. Shannon and Macie are raking leaves to earn some money. Shannon can rake 2 lawns that are about the same size in 5 hours. Jackie can rake 2 lawns that are about the same size in 6 hours. How long would it take both girls to work together to rake 2 lawns? Write and solve an equation for this situation. Explain how to set up the equation, using w = rt. 2. Bob has two savings accounts. He deposited $100 more into account B than account A. After a period of time, account A has earned $105 in interest at 7%, and account B has earned $80 in interest at a rate

Hey @FoolForMath wanna help out the new guy??! (I know you want to ;p)

OpenStudy (roadjester):

Well, what does w=rt stand for?

OpenStudy (roadjester):

and I think you didn't finish question 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w=rt is a eqution that you can use to make the question easier and sorry about not finishing the question here is the ful one. thanks. Bob has two savings accounts. He deposited $100 more into account B than account A. After a period of time, account A has earned $105 in interest at 7%, and account B has earned $80 in interest at a rate of 5%. Write an equation to represent the situation. Explain each variable used. How much money did Bob initially deposit into each account? Solve the equation

OpenStudy (roadjester):

x*.07=105 (x+100)*.05=80

OpenStudy (roadjester):

I think that's accurate, but I haven't solved something like this in a long time x represents the original amount deposited.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you... do you have any clue on the first one?

OpenStudy (roadjester):

correction, w=rt. I'm assuming rate*time.

OpenStudy (roadjester):

but what does w stand for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but i think w stands for the lawn they are raking and they are raking one lawn so mabye w=1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah i just looked it up aand the w means the amount of jobs they are doing so w = 1 lawn

OpenStudy (roadjester):

Sry bout that, helping someone else. Anyway, If you divide by 2 for each girl, Shannon can rake one lawn in 2.5 hrs. Marcie can rake one lawn in 3 hrs. I really hate these types of questions where you have to combine the work two people can do. However, I'm pretty sure on question 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you very much

OpenStudy (roadjester):

@rebeccaskell94 help me out ya?
