adiabatic also means no heat flow.
\(\Delta U=Q-W\) Adiabatic process implies \(Q=0\) so \(Delta U = -W\) so \(\Delta U<0\) but for an ideal gas, \(\Delta U \propto kT\) where \(k\) is a positive constant. Thos the temperature must decrease.
