What is the future of mathematics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someday we'll be able to divide by zero... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Riemann hypothesis!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what else though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the Riemann hypothesis is pretty big

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

some conjectures like Goldbach's or Collatz's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in english please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean the big picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

more mathematics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what will it be doing, what will it be like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think one of the newer branches (idk) is fractals and its uses...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there would be more mathematics it would just make school more longer and hard, that is what i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if ti got even more complex, would humans even e able to do it? or would computers do all math in the future

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think that humans will be able to solve these complex problems without computers or calculators, it will just take longer though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't there a big prize for proving the Riemann Hypotheses? i think a read that somewhere in the past - millions i believe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

words will soon be included instead of just letters

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we are going to turn it into a co-op and vie for a seat at the UN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ultimately we are just going to reach 42 and be done with it ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i divided by zero yesterday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

“ The true method of forecasting the future of mathematics lies in the study of its history and its present state.[1] ”

OpenStudy (anonymous):

had a headache for two hours, but the police didn't come

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i discovered the value of log(0) , but it turned out I made an error and had to give it back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mathmatics is constantly growing. In the future, math will likely focus more on physics applications and linear algebra, specifically matrix factorization. Both are widely used today, and are the most explored because of their uses.

OpenStudy (beginnersmind):

What's the present of mathematics? I don't think many of us can answer even that.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the present of mathematics is a gift that cant be returned no matter what you get on the test

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There once was a student from Trinity, Tried to take the square root of infinity. Whilst counting the digits Was seized with the fidgets. Gave up math and took up divinity.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

...that was pascal blaze :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and statistically speaking; that is the only clean limerick in existence

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Whatever I do in the future is the future of mathematics. Also more poetry fun! Pi goes on forever, And e is just as cursed. I wonder which is larger, When their digits are reversed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is something to think about
