Steve drove 1,344 miles in 24 hours. What was his mean driving speed?

Parth (parthkohli):

\(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow Mean = {\text{Sum of observations} \over \text{Number of observations}} }\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ParthKohli not in this case. here mean means "averages speed"

Parth (parthkohli):

So, actually, you'll just have to divide to get the mean here. \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow {1344 \over 24} = 56 }\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(1344\div24\)

Parth (parthkohli):

@satellite73 Lol, you took what I was saying :P

Parth (parthkohli):

We actually know that it's the SUM OF ALL OBSERVATIONS.(The distance he's driven) So, we can divide it by 24 as the speed is calculated in Miles Per Hour.
