I am working with Double object pronouns PLEASE HELP me understand here are my notes: 1. Some verbs such as recomendar, dejar, pedir, servir, traer, llevar, and dar can have a direct object and an indirect object. Remember to use the indirect object pronoun whenever there is an indirect object. El mesero nos recomendó (a Leli y a mí) el plato del día. 2. When you use a direct and an indirect object pronoun together, the indirect object pronoun always comes first. Change the indirect object pronouns le/les to se when used with lo/la/los/las. When you use two object pronouns t

1. Well it means that when you use those verbs you NEED to have an object. Say you use "recomendar" which is to advise, you need to say WHAT it is you are recommending or advising. I think that there is an error in your notes though. You have to remember to use the DIRECT object whenever you use the INDIRECT object. Because, the indirect object says to WHOM you are targeting your action to. For example, if you say "Le recomendé" (I advised him to) you need to say what it is you told him. That is the direct object. 2. The first one is easy. You just need to remember to put "Le" or "Les" before saying what it is that you are telling/giving/making to them. Ex. "Le regalé un libro". The indirect object is "le" and the direct object is "un libro". So when you are using the word "it" (lo, la, los, las) instead of the complete name of something, and the form "le" and "les" instead of using "a el" or "a Manuel", you have to use the word "se" before the direct object (lo, la, los, las) and it replaces the form "le" and "les". For example, "Yo se lo dije". Notice that it is similar to the verb "Saber" (to know) but it means a totally different thing, and it does NOT work as a verb. Another thing you should know is that this form "se" does not indicate whether the one that you are directing the action to is a he, she, IT or them. You won't normally find it replacing the name of an object (as you don't give advice to your furniture or even talk to it, I assume...). So yeah, you can find out who the action is directed to entirely by the context. Example: "Ella se la regaló". Okay, it says that she gifted something to someone, and it uses the feminine to name the object, but there is no hint to who this person is or whether it is a group of people. Hoping it will help :) sorry for the long answer, I tried to explain it as clearly as possible. Good luck!
