When it’s time to send your child off to school, and have them leave the nest for the first time, it can be very nerve racking. For five years, you have been the one there to teach them and to make sure they’re safe and now it is time to put that responsibility into someone else’s hands. Picking the right school for you and your child is the most important thing you can do for them, to jump start their education in the right direction. When debating your options between public and private school, private school is what will satisfy you and your child's wants and needs. 1st paragraph
With the economy being at a low, I can understand that private school having tuition may alter your thinking route but don’t let that be your breaking point. Because private school is funded within itself, it has the capability to maintain extracurricular subjects such as art, music, drama, and the P.E program that many public schools are now having to do without; because they don’t have the appropriate funding to keep them around. These classes are excellent in adding to your child’s education experience. A report by the Arts Education Partnership stated that, “School children exposed to drama, music and dance may do a better job at mastering reading, writing and math than those who focus solely on academics.” These extracurricular classes give students the opportunity to leave the classroom and learn while having fun at the same time. These early stages of childhood are the building blocks for the rest of their lives. It’s the time where they are learning to read, write, and get along with others and if they are placed in an environment that they do not feel safe in or are not able to be properly educated they can suffer later on in life. 2nd paragraph
Along with excellent extra-classroom activities being offered, the one on one that your child will receive with his/her teacher in the classroom will benefit them in their learning process. In private schools, the class sizes are usually smaller because not every student that enrolls is accepted. For public schools this is not the case because it is a law that all children be accepted as long as they reside in that school district. The usual class size for a private school is between 15-20 kids. For public schools it’s between 30-40 kids and it can become rowdy and not an environment where learning is taking place. Because of the small class size, the teacher has more time to get to know your child’s strengths and weaknesses and help them when needed. Children, even at the same age, may learn slower or faster than their peers. In a big classroom environment the teacher may not be able to give your child the appropriate extra help needed to maintain their educational level. Along with class sizes being smaller, that means the school as a whole is usually much smaller than a public school. Kids are given the opportunity to know all of their peers and teachers on a more friendly level and are then able to feel more safe being on a campus where no one is unfamiliar. 3rd paragraph
Another issue you may be concerned with is if there are uniforms. When thinking about it, your child’s first response would probably be “ewww, no way” but there are many advantages to attending a school that has uniforms. First off, in today’s society image is something that many kids, both girls and boys care a lot about. Girls worry about whether or not boys will think they look pretty and boys worry that their friends won’t think they’re cool because they don’t have the latest cool brands. This issue is almost completely avoided when everyone around them, girls and boys alike, are wearing almost the exact same thing. In 1996 President Clinton talked about school uniforms in his State of the Union speech, "If it means teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, then our public schools should be able to require their students to wear school uniforms." President Clinton was talking about bullying. School bullying statistics and cyber bullying statistics in 2007 rated California the number one worst state to live in to avoid bullies in K- 12. The amount of kids bullied in private schools are substantially lower compared to public schools. Other ways uniforms help school systems is they encourage discipline, help identify intruders in the school, and increase school pride and a sense of belonging. Not only that but makes it really easy to get ready in the morning. 4th paragraph
Take a kids opinion, I don't like uniforms. I went to a private school once and one uniform was a green polo they gave you and the girls wore khaki jumpers and the boys khaki pants. we always had to wear black shoes. the other uniform was mon, wed, fri, and it was a light blue polo with navy jumper or pants and black shoes. Private school education may not be up to grade either. My social studies was teaching me how to act in church. If you really want a good education, to know your child is in good hands, and good discipline, then go to my school. You stay at home with a parent, guardian, or a family member that will help you when needed with your schooling, and the education is tailored to each child's needs. i am in gifted and talented subjects because i am smart enough and can handle it. but if you can't it's okay and you can go with your grade. I say connections academy. They are state-wide schools that have teachers and live lessons and other kids to interact with. http://www.connectionsacademy.com/home.aspx
ok well...I go to connections and it's an assignment...I have to write a persuasive speech about a topic and the topic I chose was private school because i went to one from K-8th grade. I just want to know if you think it's ok or if it needs some revision?
Oh. then, i think it's fine.
ok! haha thanks! And yea I like Connections too! it's a good school. I just wanted another opinion on my paper before I turned it it.
