In Young's double slit experiment, the distance between slits is 0.0344 mm. The wavelength of light used is 600nm. What is the angular width of a fringe formed on a distant screen?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angular width is equal to wavelength/slit width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea..I used that formula but the answer is 1 degree and I am getting 17441.8 !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using the formula, you will get the answer in radians.convert into degrees.btw,i think you made a mistake in decimal points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to use consistent units. 1 nm=1*10^-9 m Then, as stated, convert to degrees with deg=(180/PI) rad

thanks a lot! :)
