what is electron made of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electron is subatomic particle so it isnt made out of anything, it makes something, it carries negative charge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what makes charge then?what is it made up of????why cant it be created???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electron makes charge, he is elementary particle: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/00/Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles.svg he makes other "stuff" he cant be divided, and most of the electrons were created presumably by big bang, and can be created by beta decay and high energy collisions

So far as we know, the electron is not made of anything, because it has a diameter of exactly zero. From the point of view of general relativity, we can regard it as a little kink in spacetime. That is, if space and time had only one direction each, so that spacetime could be imagined to be like a thin flat sheet, then an electron would be a little wrinkle in one place. The curvature of the sheet is what we interpret as mass. Unfortunately, there is no way within this model to account for the charge on the electron -- our theories of electric and magnetic effects have not yet been unified with our theories of mass and gravity.
