can someone teach me how to find the domain of the following equation: f(x)=abs(x)+abs(x+2)
domain is all real numbers since you can put any numbers in the x and the function is still meaningful
x is always positive in an absolute value problem so the domain is all real x there range is restricted to y >= 2
^^ x is not always positive.it's just the absolute that is always positive hehe
I was wondering if there is an analytical way to get to the answer. I got dividing the function into a piecewise funcion, but I got stucked.
no there is another way to do but analyze each absolute value
the best method for starting to understand domain is to graph the curve.... download a free program called Geogebra... excellent for graphing and geometry
I use Mathematica. It is really good. Its ok, Well it is a new challenge for me today. I will try to figure out by descomponing the absolute values and see what I get. Thanks guys
