OpenStudy (anonymous):

the measure of an arc whatever that is, means the angle of that arc is half of it ... yes?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

No. There are 360 degrees in an entire circle so the measure of the arc is a certain number of degrees depending on how much of the circle it is. If it is half of the circle then its measure is 180 degrees. If it is 1/4 of the circle it's measure is 90 degrees and so on.

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

measure of arc is the the SAME as the measure of its central angle

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you have an angle with its vertex on the circle, the measure of that angle is 1/2 its arc. That is called an inscribed angle.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you have an angle whose vertex is at the center of the circle, its measure is the same as its arc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ok then my question was over an inscribed angle you mean its not half if the lines come out the circle

OpenStudy (mertsj):

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That is a picture of an inscribed angle and its arc is 80 degrees. So the angle is 40 degrees.
