what is heat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mani_Jha, can you answer that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the quality of being hot, high temp., sensitive to heat and cold. It can be generated by things, like the sun,or experiments, etc. radiators

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heat is energy it makes with vibration and rotation molecular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ -- it's how fast a molecule is moving. ghostdark has a more scientific take on how those molecules move and what heat means.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heat is the result of an increase in temperature of a body or the increase of the relative frictional forces between adjacent atom due to the rise in their kinetic energy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

According to particle physics and sheer experimentation, heat is the sum total kinetic energy of all the molecules of a body.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heat is a form of energy which excites in us, the sensation of warmth.

OpenStudy (ghazi):

Heat is basically ENERGY IN TRANSIT... that is flow f energy from a high level to a low level

Will anyone ever get a medal? Probably no.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heat is a form of energy ( as already mentioned in above good answers). in an atom/ molecule there are atoms at different energy levels/ bands. these make transition from one to another. during this transitions they absorb energy and release energy. SO heat is also a radiation energy, with material waves
