can someone please explain to me step by step on how to find the domain of f(x) = ln( sqroot ( (x + 3)^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\ln (\sqrt{(x+3)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you tell me the domain of y = lnx ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x > 0 !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the answer, but I dont know why its the answer. I need someone to explain it to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the domain doesn't have to be greater than 0, it can also be less than 0 because when u square a negative number it is positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try plot it on ur calculator if u don't believe me and as for explaining the answer of the domain R, basically if u have any x-value it will positive because square a negative number is positive as I said before.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me through setting up a inequality equation please?
