If f(x) = −5x + 1, find f(−3).

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

replace every x by -3 -5(-3) + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just substitute the value of x which is -3 to the equation :))

Parth (parthkohli):

Think about it this way :) you put a number in a box and you get negative 5 times the number and 1 added to it. Similarly, you'll get negative 5 times -3 and then 1 added to it :)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

box?

Parth (parthkohli):

\( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow \textbf{if} f(x) = -5x + 1 \Rightarrow \textbf{then } f(-3) = -5(-3) + 1 }\)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i think abt itthis way f(x) -> f(3) they are almost the same except for the value in the parenthesis...so i know i just substitute 3 to x
