Is this equation correct: (x y)3 = x y3 ? Explain why. If it is correct, how can you prove this? If it is incorrect, what should be done to make it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try two numbers 2 and 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that: \[(xy)^{3} = xy^{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x y)3 = x y3 it should be (x y)3 = x 3y3 (x y)3=xy.xy.xy=x.x.x.y.y.y=x3y3

YEs @Calcmathlete

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is incorrect because the cubed would be distributed to both the x and y. \[(xy)^{3} = x^{3}y^{3}\]
