Which guideline should you follow when selecting the font for a presentation?

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

I have no idea about presentations specifically, but I know a lot of people will say that you should use a serif font for long blocks of text and a sans-serif font for headings or small blocks of text. Then again, typography isn't my specialty.

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

Personally, I prefer san-serif types for body types. Body-type is the the type that comprises the body of text, in paragraphs. Don't overuse fancy types, they're frequently hard to read and distract from the content they're trying to convey. Make sure that your font size is big enough for people (older, senior level) to read. I'm in my 50's and my days of 10 point type are over. My minimum now is 12 point, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's 14 before I'm 60. Color, weight and size can all be used for emphasis, or to dominate and draw the eye to it. Sparing use of italics works in body text.
