how many ways can you arrange the letters in professor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nPr = \[n! \over (n - r)!\] 9P9

OpenStudy (kropot72):

\[\frac{9!}{2!2!2!}\]

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

\[\frac{9\times8\times7\times6\times5\times4\times3\times2\times1}{2\times1*2\times1*2\times 1}\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

PROFESSOR has 9 lettters..O repeats twice, S repeats twice and R repeats twice...therefore it is \[\frac{9!}{2!2!2!}\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

understand how to get it @bella2009 ??

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

u get 45360

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The 9! ways of arranging the letters in professor have to be divided by 2! * 2! * 2! because having fixed the letters of the non-repeated letters, the r's may be arranged in 2! ways, the o's arranged in 2! ways and the s's in 2! ways without making a different word.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

btw..when asking these types of questions please state the word in all capitals..it's a standard ^_^
