what is electrostatic sheilding?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Vincent-Lyon.Fr i m not able to write its definition plz help me ...

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

This one is quite nicely said: http://www.thebigger.com/physics/electrostatics/what-do-you-mean-by-electrostatic-shielding/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all i know that in this for exmaple conductor always have charge on it suface or say charge is urrounding it so dat no other charge come inside so that potential remain unaffected

OpenStudy (anonymous):

suface= *surface urrounding=#surrounding

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Zone inside a hollow conductor is at uniform potential and zero electric field.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea that thing i knw but how to write :O

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Electric shielding consists in enclosing the area to protect in a hollow, grounded conductor. Hence potential in the area remains constantly 0, whatever happens in the surrounding.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

potential remains constantly unaffected not zero right?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

If conductor is grounded, V=0. If not grounded, it will remain uniform, so no field will appear.
