Mona has a triangular flag. She wants to cut out a similar flag that has dimensions one-fourth of the original flag. If the area of the original flag is 320 square inches, what is the area of the new flag that Mona cuts out? 16 in2 20 in2 32 in2 80 in2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 80 in2 320/.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.25=1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do not have any dimension of the triangle beside the area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

if the dimensions are 1:4 then the area will be 1^2:4^2 1:16 the area of the smaller flag will be 1/16 of the original so 320/16 = 20 the area of the smaller flag is 20 inches^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok..thnxx

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it wouldnt just be 320/1/4
