If the sin B = 0.7660, find m ∠B to the nearest degree.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can calculate it by calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just type in sin-1 (0.7660) and you will get 49.996 degrees - 50.0 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? i think if you type sin-1 u should get 49.996 degrees and (180degree- 49.996 degrees)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because sinA=sin(pi-A) cosA=cos(-A)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ack, actually it was meant to be sin^-1 (in calculator, type SHIFT + SIN)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin^-1 means arcsin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it's not in a circle right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain what does ''49.996 degrees - 50.0 degrees''means ? between 49.996 degrees and 50.0 degrees. or one is 49.996 degreesv and another is -50.0 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, sorry about that, actually it's 49.996 degrees and so I changed it into 2 significant figures which is 50.0 degrees. Sorry about the confusion...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...ok, i know it. we all get the corrected answer. but i think the perfect ans is 49.996 degrees and (180-49.996) degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I do agree too! I normally take up to 4 decimal places to get the most accurate answer.
