y intercept is when x = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So replace the x with 0?
OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):
bring down the eqn in the form of y/a + x/b =1
here a is y intercept and x is b intercept
other ways could be be bring it in y= mx+c
here c is y intercept
simplest of em (altough all are equalivalent) is put x=0
OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):
i meant b is x intercept in 2nd line **
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohh! Okay. So if I replace the 0 with the x, I will get the y-intercept?

seems right

Well since I'm only finding the y-int, I just mess with the x and not they y?
OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):
you can say that..
see,,y intercept means where the graph cuts y-axis..
and as you know,,y axis is nothing but x=0 line
so basically you're solving for the intersection point between the given eqn and x=0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That's so true. So I got 12. Is that correct?
OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):
bingo! ^_^
