N+S=217 N=S+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let N, S be the score for the Nets and Spurs respectively.

@Duker, please post your questions up... and not on someone else's posts...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use N and S for the scores for Nets and Spurs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have to use x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok... Let x=the Spurs' score. Let y=the Nets' score. then use the system i showed using x and y instead of N and S...:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let x= the nets let y=the spurs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or that ^^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+y=217 x=y+7 substitute the second equation into the first equation: (y+7) + y = 217 now you have 1 equation with 1 variable. I'm sure you can take it from here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it does not turn to y^2... just get rid of the parenthesis and combine like terms: (y+7) + y = 217 y + 7 + y = 217 2y + 7 =217 can you take it from that last step?

yw...:)
