2x+1/5=-x+5/6
\[\frac{2x+1}{5}=\frac{-x+5}{6}\]
No it is just like that 2x+1/5=X+5/6
When they throw fractions in it throws me completely
\[2x+\frac{1}{5}=-x+\frac{5}{6}\]
Yes
Bring the x on one side of the equation \[2x+x=\frac{5}{6}-\frac{1}{5}\]
ok and move the other fraction to the other side too?
\[3x=30*\frac{5}{6}-30*\frac{1}{5}\] \[3x=\frac{25-6}{30}\]
Yes to solve
ok
3x=19/30
Divide both sides by 3
x=19/90
that is to simplify the answer correct?
To solve for x
What are the instructions?
Solve the following by clearing fractions. Show work
Okay :). Do you understand?
1) first add -x to both sides to get 3x+1/5=5/6 2) then get a common denominator for the fractions so the equation becomes 3x+6/30=25/30 then subtract 6/30 from both dies to get 3x=19/30 3) divide both sides by three to get 19/90 hope that helps :)
Cross Multiply in purplec16 first reply.:)
I think so like I said the fractions throw me every time thank you for your patience
no problem
why did they have to make it so complicated lol
Well, I guess you need to practice some more, lol... Mastering it comes with a lot of practice... I still get confused...
yeah I am practicing alot lol, back to school at the age of 46 and math was never my strong suit
So just practice adding and subtracting fractions. Like 5/6-1/2 4/3+9/7
