OpenStudy (moongazer):

Is there an angle measuring more than 360 degrees ? What do you call it ? My professor said there is no such thing. But I doubt it.

Parth (parthkohli):

If you notice, more than 360 degrees would start another cycle.

Parth (parthkohli):

361 degrees would be 1 degree.. 362 = 2 363 = 3 and so on

OpenStudy (moongazer):

ok thanks! :)

Parth (parthkohli):

And wait... that's where modular arithmetic comes in

OpenStudy (moongazer):

I asked this because I am seeing angles more than 360 degrees sometimes :)

Parth (parthkohli):

If you want to find an angle measure more than 360, it'd be\(\mod{(x,360)}\)

OpenStudy (moongazer):

What about modular arithmetic ?

Parth (parthkohli):

Yeah, 720 degrees is again 360 degrees or 0 degrees :)

Parth (parthkohli):

For example, 480 degrees is actually \(\mod({480,360}) = 120^{\circ}\)

OpenStudy (moongazer):

ohh I don't know that thing

Parth (parthkohli):

Hey did you use photoshop to make that thing blue?

OpenStudy (moongazer):

I don't use Photoshop :)

OpenStudy (moongazer):

But I think it is fun knowing things like that

OpenStudy (moongazer):

:)

Parth (parthkohli):

How did you make that? :O

OpenStudy (moongazer):

the modular arithmetic

Parth (parthkohli):

I mean the background is supposed to be grey

OpenStudy (moongazer):

what that?

Parth (parthkohli):

Your display pic... how is the background blue? Photoshop?

OpenStudy (moongazer):

ohh my pic. I copied it here. Is it not allowed?

Parth (parthkohli):

No, it is but how did you make the background blue?

OpenStudy (moongazer):

i'll remove it if it is not allowed :)

Parth (parthkohli):

No no.. it is completely allowed

Parth (parthkohli):

Just wanted to know how you made the background blue :)

OpenStudy (moongazer):

I copied it from here (openstudy.com) when openstudy was not yet like this. I copied it from the openstudy feedback section. I think that time is when openstudy is just starting and the homepage is showing already the sections. The homepage has different kinds of pictures from the different sections then I saw this picture from the openstudy feedback sections and I copied it. I think Physics section has a atomic model pic and chemistry has a graduated cylinder.

OpenStudy (moongazer):

:)

Parth (parthkohli):

Wow

OpenStudy (moongazer):

I copied it when openstudy looks like this. :) http://dialectmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/OpenStudy1.jpg

Parth (parthkohli):

Nice stuff man
