HELP PLEASE??: Would a styrofoam cube that has a mass of 150 g and a volume of 1000 ml sink in water??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I REALLY NEED HELP PLEASE!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@musicalrose , @maheshmeghwal9 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyone??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ajprincess ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D=m/v so, 150/1000 gives you what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the density of water is 1000kg/m^3. so it will float if density calculated is less than this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok, thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you were correct btw. So, does that give you your answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it does, thanks. So does styrofoam never sink??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@musicalrose ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it does not sink. pretty much ever. styrofoam as a material would not be dense enough

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem!
