Is anyone seriously doing SICP course and following the book . I haven't seen a single relevant question asked from the book or lector video,assignment or handouts from SICP course.

What you say is true. I have noticed that as well. Although it is about 6.001 and SICP is what people should be talking about, but that is not really the case. However, it doesn't mean that if you yourself might have something to ask from the text (SICP), no one will be there to answer. I have gone through the course in my first year at college. So, if you might have anything to ask, will try to help to best of my knowledge. And I am sure, there will be other people as well.

When you click on video lectures it reads:

"Note: These lectures follow the first edition (1985) of Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs. Many of the programs discussed were rewritten for the second edition (1996) of the book, and new material was added. These video lectures will still be useful for students using the second edition, since the overall themes of the course and order of presentation are unchanged."

Yes SICP is a tough read for self study. These lecture video are helpful in that respect.

Hey jagan, I am just starting SICP with the intention of going through the entire course. Where are you in the course? Maybe we can collaborate.

I moved to python. I have pretty much completed python. I can start SICP with you. Collaborative learning will be best.

I did a good part of 6.00 but never finished it. I'm hoping that participating in these message boards will keep me motivated to get 6.001 finished (and hopefully quickly...but that's not the main goal).

I have experience in other programming languages, so 6.00 was easy for me. But i struggled with 6.001 initially and functional programming is not easy. You wont be able to finish 6.001 quickly and easily.

Yes you are right jagan. SICP is a tough course. It is not an easy finish.

If anyone is seriously doing 6.001 SICP and want to work together, please let me know so I can set up something like a Google+ Group. Right now I'm doing the Online Tutor, watching the lectures, reading SICP, and doing the recitations. I may go back and do the questions in the SICP book to further cement the subject matter.

Hi guys,

I started the course few days ago. Now I'm finishing the first exercises of the book 1.1 to 1.5. I have experience in other programming languages like Java, Ruby, SQL and a few others but it's my first experience with a functional language and a MIT course.

I already note that it's a very enlightening course but a tough one too. I know that I'll need to be patient to complete it. A good study group helps a lot. So, if anyone is interested to form a study group please send me a message to begin to organize it. You can count me in!
