Scientific research shows that our global climate is changing. Ocean temperatures and acidity are increasing, and the global sea level is rising. Which of the following best predicts an outcome of this global climate change in a marine ecosystem? More species will be able to survive due to the less extreme temperatures in the ocean. The increased acidity will make it more difficult for harmful bacteria to survive. Tectonic plate activity will increase and produce warmer ocean temperatures. Many marine species will not be able to adjust quickly enough to survive.

Hey @nads16, our global climate is definitely changing and that phenomenon is known as global warming. The temperature of the water is moving up and a rise of up to 5.8 degrees Celsius is expected by the end of the century. It's not only about literally being able to survive the rise in temperature but also the consequence of the latter. Just like on earth, there is a food web embedded in the ecosystem. If the latter is broken, this will surely have a negative impact and now just imagine that due to rise in temperature the primary producers are unable to adapt and are somehow eradicated from planet earth? It's going to be awful, it will definitely compromise human survival. It's pretty much the same under water. Marine species including plankton are being affected by this phenomenon. Plankton being primary producers, they form the basis of marine food chains - corals, fish and so on on which other species feed. I've just considered life on land and under water separately for the sake of explanation. Here's a link which will help you understand climate change better: http://wwf.panda.org/about_our_earth/blue_planet/problems/climate_change/ Hope it helps.:)
