It is your task to deliver as much grain as possible from Jaipur to Jodhpur. The cities are 1,000 miles apart. You initially have 10,000 pounds of grain. Your camel may carry up to 1,000 pounds and eats 1 pound of grain per mile traveled. You may leave grain along the way and return to it later. How much grain can you deliever to Jodhpur? Round off your answer to the nearest integer in terms of pounds of grain. i)6900 ii) 1550 iii) 2003 iv) 1400
1400
I'm curious, how did you get 1400?
keep dropping ur grains at a suitable distance nd then come back,,,,,, create a series in such a way that d first time u reach jodhpur, u dont need to return back to jaipur, keep this in mind that as much less our camel travvels, it will bring more grains there
I guess I'm stuck on the idea that if it has to go 1000 miles...and eats 1lb of grains per mile...and can only carry 1000lbs...there will no grain left when it gets there.
per mile one pound hence total pounds which are required to eat is 1000 lb
I'm still not getting dg123's answer...I'd like to see it mathematically although I guess it's right because at least it's an available answer (and 0 is not).
i need some convincing result
shane thats y i m saying leave some grain on the way
DG 123 HOW CAN YOU MATHEMATICALLY EXPRESS SOME GRAINS?
sir, fill ur camel to fullest, go 250 miles, drop 500 lb grains there, nd come back nd again do tht, its d trick
PLS DG123 EXPLAIN IN DETAILS
i also dont know the details, acctually i heard my teachers dicussing it nd then i heard it there, nd got d question from them, nt the explanation
Here's a mathematical explanation which works out to be 1400lbs. http://mathproblems.info/prob99s.htm
well yeah thts right
how cumulative u found the question???
