Hello :) May I just ask what is the difference between "=" and "==" in flowcharting?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Flowchart is a pictorial representation of an algorithm. The operators you described are not part of a flowchart and hence are not standardized, but are part of the textual description which one can use in a flowchart. The standard elements are the symbols used example rectangle and diamond. Now I would assume that as in programming languages, "=" is used for assignment purposes and "==" is used for comparison. Example M = 2; assigns the number 2 to M while M == 2 checks whether M is currently equal to 2. Hence in a flowchart you would find M==2 in the diamond shape which is used for decision and you would find M = 2 in the rectangle shape which is used for processing. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I thought I was wrong with my answer on our 1st exercise in computer science but it turned out to be right! Thanks again :)
