10 - 16 div 4 times 2 - 2(3) - 4 There were no additional prenetheses in this problem.

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

I think the solution is -60. Can someone tell me if I am right?

Without knowing how it was originally written there's no way to know. Was it a word problem just like that, or was it written out as a formula, e.g. \[\frac{10-16}{4}*2-2(3)-4\] or \[\frac{10-16}{4*2}-2(3)-4\] etc?

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

\[10-16\div4\times2-2(3)-4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it's written like that, then you need to use PEMDAS. Parentheses Exponent Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

So the correct answer is -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

Thanks, that really helped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problemo
