Find the slope of the line containing the given pair of points. If the line is undefined, state so. Please be sure to show all of your work. (-4, -5) and (-4, 5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can see the slope by plotting the two points, you will find one is directly above the other, which means the line is vertical, and the slope is undefined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plot those two points and draw a line through both... what's the slope of that line?

thats what i thought but wasnt for sure.

Quick rule: if the x coordinates are the same, then the slope is undefined (since the two points will plot a vertical line)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

line is defind, but no equation for it, becouse slope is infinite. But if you switsh the variables x and y to (y,x) it will have slope 0 and everything is ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equation of this line is x= -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like you see it reminds slope intercept for , just instead of y you have x
