What is the remainder of (x^3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this long division calculus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No algebra 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok same concept though, one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

write up x-3 divided by x^3 - 6x - 9x +3 as in long division on yoru paper.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I still dont get it tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well what you do is just like in long division you write something on the top and multiply it into x-3 to get something to subtract from the big one so.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first off, theres no x^2 in this, just 6x and 9x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the problem at first written correctly is what i'm asking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, x goes into x^3 an amoutn of times of x^2 so you would write x^2 in the top. and the numbers you minus from the big number ends up being x^3 - 3x^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first simplify this from -6x -9x to -15x if thats how it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then what do you end up with after minusing x^3 - 3x^2 from the equation?
