OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

if the velocity of a particle is nonzero can the acceleration be zero?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

If course. If that velocity is constant, acceleration is zero.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

ok thanks :D just wanted to make sure..i had my doubts lol

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

@Vincent-Lyon.Fr what if velocity is zero...can acceleration be zero? im thinking no..

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Both are possible, it depends if the velocity is changing or not. An object staying at rest has zero velocity and zero acceleration. In the following case, velocity is zero but acceleration is positive : |dw:1341010247962:dw|

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

velocity is 0 because it goes back and forth right?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Correct! At the time shown, the body reaches a turning point.
