a school needs 3 teachers for every 70 children. They expect to have 14,700 children. at this time they have 612 teachers. How many more teachers are needed ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First of all, set up a ratio. A good ratio is 3/70. We don't know how many teachers they will need total, so let's call that x. The number of students we have is 14700. So we can write the equation \[\frac{3}{70} = \frac{x}{14700}\]

OpenStudy (precal):

x-612 will tell them how many more teachers are needed

I should mention that you have to do the proportion that was set up by SmoothMath first and then do what I mentioned above (Mine is step 2)

im still lost..
