Can someone help me solve this please Solve |x| + 7 < 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<-3

|dw:1341287517870:dw|As you can see from here, there is n solution because any number inside absolute value turns positive. Therefore, it cannot be a negative number.

*no soltuion

okay thank you for explaining it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np :)

@calcmathlete can u explain to me why its no solution? i had a horrible algebra teacher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. absolute value bars make any number that comes out of them positive right? So, |-1238583| = 1238583 That being said, there is no way to make |x| < -4 since no matter what, the answer would not work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, even if it were to work, you forgot to split the absolute value inequality.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you veriii much, you should a teacher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol. I am only in high school XD
