Tom wants to hang a mirror in his room but the mirror and frame must not have an area larger than 14 square feet. The mirror is 3 feet wide and 4 feet long. Which quadratic equation represents the area of the mirror and frame combined? 4x2 + 14x − 2 = 0 3x2 + 10x − 14 = 0 2x2 + 12x − 14 = 0 x2 + 7x − 14 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\((3+x)(4+x)\leq 14\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw this is not an equation, it is an inequality multiply out get \[12+7x+x^2\leq 14\] \[x^2+7x-2\leq 0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what are you trying to say it is @satellite73

OpenStudy (ganpat):

(3 + x) (4 +x) <= 14 12 + 3x + 4x + x2 <= 14 x2 + 7x -2 = 0.. none of the option.. 4 the option might be wrong...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i am stone wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(3+2x)(4+2x)\leq 14\] \[4x^2+14x+12\leq 14\] \[4x^2+14x-2\leq 0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wrote \(3+x\) and \(4+x\) when it should have been \(3+2x\) and \(4+2x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (ganpat):

lol, so m i !! :(
