What is the equation of the line parallel to the graph of y = 5x -3 and through the origin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is in slope-intercept form, which makes it easier to solve. \[y=mx+b\] Where b is the y intercept, in the question, the case would be -3, if there was no b, what would the y intercept be? To find a parallel line to another line on a graph, it must have the same slope, where a perpendicular line must have a slope which is the reciprocal of the original. For example, 1/3 would be a slope perpendicular to your line. But since it is parallel, we use the same slope. Can you solve it?

y = 5x - 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your slope is right, but the -3 means it's the same line, which is not parallel, and does not cross the origin. (0,0) is the origin of a graph. For your original equation the line crosses (0,-3), but you want it to cross (0,0). So take just y = 5x to find your parallel line that crosses the origin.
