Math question..? (integers -- unions)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first part kind of makes sense. Like I know to combine them, but do I put it in numerical order? And the second part has me beat.

OpenStudy (hba):

YOU HAVE TO SELECT THE COMMON IN THE 2ND ONE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For second part A and B have only one common element 9. So 9 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have any doubts please ask..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. Does the first part have to be in numerical order?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here, A = {3,4,7,9} and B = {8,9,10,11} So, to get A U B , You just combine all the element of A and B . => A U B = {3,4,5,9,8,10,11} .. (You don't write 9 twice 'coz it's repeated .. ) By definition , A intersection B = All the element that are common to both A and B .. So, A intersection B = {9}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not necessary. You just need to combine both the sets. That's all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Aditi_Singh : Well explained..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, that makes sense! That you so much y'all :)
