Find the equation of a line parallel to the given line: y = 2x + 4. A. y = 2x + 4 B. y = 2x C. y = 1/2x + 4 D. y = -1/2x -4

B as they have equal gradients...

when placed in y=mx+b the m must be equal...

@aceace kay thanks

no probs

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

the line is parallel so the slope of the parallel line is 2 (since this is the slope of y = 2x + 4) so that cancels out the last two choices because the slope of the last two choices are 1/2 and -1/2. so your only choice now are the first and second choice. however, the first choice is the exact same equation as the given. this is not a line parallel to the given equation because it's the line itself! they are just the same lines. so by deduction the only choice left is your answer

@lgbasallote thank you
