I know that the equation is y=-a(x-h)^2+k

I'll assume A is the focus Vertex is ( 3, 0) focus (3, -4) directrix is y = 4 so the value of a = 4 a = distance between the vertex and focus so the equation is y = -4(x - 3)^ + 0 of y = -4(x-3)^2

yep (h, k) is the vertex.... the a value is the distance of the focus from the vertex and y = -a is the equation of the directrix
