What is the meaning of Plato's allegory of the cave?
His allegory of the cave was awesome. Basically has to do with human morality and the question of freedom and memory. Link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave
Thank you.
Well, if you want to know the meaning you have to look beyond his metaphors. People are in darkness of the cave because they aren't enlightened. They would much rather stay in the darkness, believe the things they're used to believe than venture to know more. Philosophers transcend this by escaping the cave, reaching enlightenment then come back to the cave to teach people what they found out. It's just that more often than not, people don't believe them -- which is why a lot of people think Philosophy's bullpellet. Hahaha. Here's a good site that might help you. I also have a Philo subject, and this site really helped me understand it better. http://www.philosophybro.com/2010/12/platos-allegory-of-cave-summary.html :)
I believe that I have a much clearer explanation, and thanks so much for the link. That broski is brilliant and hilarious! I will definitely keep using it :D!!
I just noticed a few grammar mishaps on my last post. Sorry! And no problem! Hope we survive Philo. Haha! :)
