An electron, moving toward the west, enters a uniform magnetic field. Because of this field the electron curves upward. The direction of the magnetic field is towards: up north down south west

OpenStudy (ghazi):

north ..since according to lorentz force it is F= q(v*B)+qE, so magnetic field is perpendicular to the direction of velocity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought so but whats the difference of up and north

OpenStudy (ghazi):

up means out of the plane but north means on the plane but perpendicular to the direction of velocity ...since electron curves upward so magnetic field is in perpendicular to the velocity and cross product of velocity and magnetic field gives direction of force on electron that is upward

thank you so much for your help
