The two triangles are similar since they are a) right triangles and b) they are leaning at the same angle

so we can say (length of longer ladder)/(height of longer ladder) = (length of shorter ladder)/(height of shorter ladder) 78/60 = x/20 Solve for x... 78/60 = x/20 78*20 = 60x 1560 = 60x 1560/60 = x 26 = x x = 26 So the length of the shorter ladder is 26 ft
