Please help! The sides of the hexagon are 14 feet long. What is the total area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The hexagon is a regular hexagon. So all we know are ALL sides=14.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k so find the area of the triangle and multiply it by 6, since a hexagon is just 6 triangles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

* 6 equilateral triangles

hero (hero):

Wow, the same question again?

hero (hero):

@Shiner, I told you to fix your calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero yes, I keep getting different answers :( I'm unsure, which one is correct. This question answer is going to help me with the other ones. Sorry.

hero (hero):

I told you to use \(A = \frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}a^2\) to find the area of one equilateral triangle. Then multiply that by 6 to get the total area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using your formula @Hero I got: Area=509.22 ft2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your answer is correct

hero (hero):

That is correct

hero (hero):

How come you couldn't do that the first time? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @niravshah08 and @Hero :) haha my calculator was having some problems...
