A certain region is losing about 12 million acres of rain forest each year. Step 1 find a linear function f that calculates the change in acres of rainforest in millions in x years. Step 2 Find f(8) and interret the result.
Someone please help me with this question.
f(x) = -12x f(8) = -12 (8) = ... I'll let you do the rest
i dont get it
when you interpret your results, your answer from above will correspond to the amount of rain forest lost after 8 years
Think of it this way: For every year, the rain forest loses 12 million acres. Our variable is x, or the number of years. So, when we set up an equation it will tell us how much rain forest has been lost after x, or in this case 8 years have passed.
Does that make sense?
yes
is it -12 X 8?
yes
so -90
close, its -96 And your interpretation should be that after 8 years, 96 million acres of rain forest were lost.
that was eaier than I thought
Thaky you so much for your help
no, prob once you set up the equation, its actually pretty easy
very true
